What is Content Marketing?

As long as there are products to sell there will be marketing and marketeers. Although it is sometimes seen as a very simple subject, it is in fact very complex. When talking about marketing strategies, the concept of content marketing is thrown around constantly, but what is content marketing and why is it an important aspect of your brand’s marketing strategy?

As its name suggests, content marketing is all about creating relevant content for your brand. All of this can be done across different channels and formats. Blog posts, videos, newsletters, social media posts, all of these are examples of the types of content brands can create.

The main goal of content marketing is to add value to your brand and everything that it stands for. Creating good quality content that inspires and benefits your readers/viewers, is the right path to generate brand loyalists.

Proware wanted to do this and decided that a series of educational videos was right for them. This is something that the team at Proware are well aware of and therefore decided to create a series of videos to explain that to their audience.

  • Creating content that directly links to what your brand does. A great example of this is Neff's video of Pumpkin Bao. The whole idea behind it was to create a fun recipe that was relevant to a specific time of the year, in this case Halloween. Here you get to see the products in action showcasing their USPs, whilst learning a new recipe to recreate at home.

  • For multinational brands like Vitamix, training their staff about the USPs and features of their products is an important part of their success. Video content is a great way to convey all the information in a more compelling way. With the right planning and script, brands can make sure that all the right information is going to be available for their team to watch and learn from it.

  • Large companies such as AIA understand the influence they have amongst their customer base. Their #healthierlongerbetterlives campaign is a great example of how they use this influence in a positive way. Creating a series of recipe videos and photos, that helped people understand the importance of healthy eating habits in their daily lives, was part of the strategy to reach a larger audience for this campaign.
