A Day in the Life - A Behind the Scenes Look at the Truffle Hunter Shoot

Imagine this (or watch it yet again)... A succession of cinematic shots filled with mouthwatering food showcasing Truffle Hunter’s newest line of products. Sensational right? But what goes on behind the scenes when filming these 20-second clips? Are you curious yet?

The process begins with the creation of the dish, headed by Creative Director Jeremy Pang. Well versed in the art of recipe development, Jeremy works to concoct recipes that bring out the unique flavours of the products. It is no exception, in this case, the fleshy texture and nutty feel of the scallops are emphasised by the smooth truffle butter and earthy truffle dust sprinkled on top. For the second recipe, the soft pork ribs and grilled chicken are complemented by the rich truffle barbecue and chilli sauce. After the recipe is created a theme for filming this delicious meal is decided, the truffle seared scallops are for a Mother’s day special video and the decadent pork ribs are part of a May Bank holiday barbecue promotion!

Pictured above are two behind the scenes photos from the Truffle Hunter shoot on 25/2/2022. Left is a picture of the seared scallops with Chef Jeremy in the background and Arthur behind the camera. On the right is a picture of the barbecue set up featuring the lighting equipment.

After the preliminary concept planning, it comes time for the preparations. The day before the film shoot is when members of the team go on a grocery run to get all the necessary ingredients - sometimes this involves going to more than one store (this time it was three)!

We have finally arrived on the morning of the shoot, it is a bright, sunny (albeit cold) day at our filming studio in London. The beginning of the morning is dedicated to set up, everything from the lighting, camera equipment, cooking tools and of course the food! Meticulous preparation is required to make sure that the equipment is complemented by natural light.

After all the preparations, the camera begins rolling, the cooking commences and the aromatic flavours are released into the air. Beginning with the scallops and followed by the barbeque, Jeremy skillfully grills the food on an outdoor Japanese grill.

As the sun begins to set (and the camera runs out of memory) the day comes to a close. After a quick but thorough cleanup, it is the most enjoyable part of the day. The team sits together and devours the food that is made, and cracks open a beer (or two)!

Throughout the process, our team - or cast of crabs - does everything we can to create the best recipes and curate the finest footage! Curiosity fulfilled? Get in touch.
