#Foodfolk - Bringing Food to Life

Somehow, I’ve landed myself and my team into a whole new food world, looking at food and drink products in a completely different way. Our camera lenses seem to be switching from brand to brand every time we zoom in and out and we’re now working with some awesome food and drinks brands.

We’re thoroughly enjoying making new friends in the content marketing industry and have just run our second collaborative networking event #FOODFOLK with two other brilliant agencies: Kitchmedia whose social media gurus are too cool to be kitsch and can certainly put a reel or two together in no time, and The Food Brand Guys who are so chilled out and friendly, learning about their approach to creative brand design and sustainability practices just make you feel good and smile.

Our ‘Bringing Food to Life’ workshop in the middle of each #FOODFOLK event is less of a ‘light lunch’ and more of a ‘feast to be reckoned with’. This time round, the feast was as impressive, if not more so than most of the restaurants you could get in Soho and Covent Garden restaurants around the corner! We had a whole selection of handmade pizzas from Home Dough and all the components of a Truffle Hunter salad, but what you need to know about these free events, is that nothing really comes for free! If you’ve ever been to School of Wok, you’ll know that you have to make your own food if you want to eat it! This video will give you a bit of insight – during this 15 minute session we like to show you how we work. This time around, we split the group up into 3 mini ‘sets’ for each group to direct and film their own part of the beautiful truffle salad that was to go alongside the rustic pizzas. With specific salady tasks for each group to get the perfectly filmed shot, for us to slot into a quick edited video later on. Frame by frame, we knew what we needed, and the group of amateur directors and chefs got straight into it:

Station 1: a dramatic asparagus splash, straight into a fish tank of water

Station 2: a factory line of corn on the cob, waiting to be seared by the blowtorch

Station 3: a quest to capture the perfect drizzling truffle dressing shot on camera

I’m sure you’ll agree, this is an amazing achievement from a group of non-videographers from just one 15 minute session at a free lunchtime videography session in Central London! Although we can’t give our guests all the credit… when it comes to food videography, the chef is only half of the magic… What happens behind the camera, the lighting and clever post-production is where the real wizardry happens.

If you want to find out more about these events, ping us an email and we can add you to the list for upcoming events!

Big thanks to Home Dough, Truffle Hunter, Ask Mummy & Daddy, No.1 Living, Chai by Mira, L.A Brewery, Wildfarmed, Oggs, Oddpods, Harry Ramsden and Tip Hospitality for coming along and bringing so much lovely food!
