BTS - Transforming a studio kitchen

by Yolanda Ocon

I think we’ve all been there: You have a vision of how you want your video to look and feel but when the time comes to choose a location or studio where you’ll be filming, you struggle to find the right space. It’s not the right size, lighting, etc. From an outsider's perspective and to the untrained eye it gets very difficult to see past this.

Seeing the potential of the space is really important. Here at Curious Crab Productions we’ve become really good at transforming our kitchen space and giving it the look and feel our clients look for in their lifestyle videos.

Creativity is at the forefront of this. Using the right lighting and props works like magic, it’s incredible to see how after a couple of hours of setting up, we end up with a completely different kitchen each time.

We’ve had the opportunity to work with a range of clients all with different briefs and visions of how they want their videos to look . Below are some examples of how we’ve transformed the space to match it to our client’s brief.

For School of Wok’s Youtube Channel we aim for a clean look, ideal for the educational content we produce for them. This style also works for paid partnership like the one the team has done with Neff appliances.

The kitchen looks completely different for this video we made for Proware where the aim was to give it a warm winter feel to showcase their products in a Christmassy environment.

The Curators wanted a more rustic environment to stay on brand, and reflect their craft of making products inspired by their travels and adventures.
